Privacy policy
Camrose Buzz is operated by Devin Hesketh, 5107 50 Ave, Camrose, AB T4V 1R1. If you have questions about this policy or how your information is handled, contact us at hello@camrosebuzz.ca.
What we collect
- Submissions. When you submit an event, a business listing, a contact message, a nomination, or an advertising enquiry, we collect what you type into that form, including your name and email address, and the IP address the submission came from.
- Account information. If you create a business account, we store your email address, a hashed password, and the listings tied to your account. We never store your password in a form we can read.
- Analytics. We record basic page view data, such as which pages were viewed and when, to understand what is useful on the site. This is not sold or shared with advertisers.
Submissions are public
Events, business listings, and nominations that we publish are shown publicly on the site by design. Do not include information in a submission that you do not want visible to the public, other than the contact details we ask for directly.
Counting visits
So that we can see which parts of the site people actually use, we count visits. When you first open a page we store a random number in a cookie on your browser, and record the pages that number looks at, how long it spends reading, and where it arrived from. It lasts for up to 400 days, and a second short-lived cookie groups the pages of one sitting together.
We do not record your name, your email address, or your IP address against those visits, and none of it is sent to another company. The random number is not linked to your account unless you sign in or send us a form, and even then it is used only to answer questions about the site as a whole.
You can turn this off for your browser at any time on the turn visit counting off page, which also deletes the cookie. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal we treat that as asking us not to count, and you do not need to do anything. We keep the detailed records for 400 days, and after that only weekly totals, which are not about any one person.
Your rights under Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act
Under Alberta PIPA, you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it if it is wrong, and to ask us to remove a submission or account. To make any of these requests, email hello@camrosebuzz.ca and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Removal requests
If you want a listing, event, or comment removed, or want your account deleted, contact hello@camrosebuzz.ca with a description of what you want removed and we will action it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site develops. The date under the heading at the top of this page is the date it was last revised.
